That pretty much sums up my relationship with technology. Just as I think I've caught up, that I am semi-competent I suddenly find out things have moved on several paces and I'm back to knowing nothing at all.
It's exhausting and my tired old brain is addled trying to stay on top of it all.
I've thought on making a website, using one of those free sites of course (free being in my budget at the moment). It all looked fairly simply but after about five minutes I gave up. I knew where I wanted to go but damn it if I could actually get there!
One point of satisfaction tonight came as I discovered the uses of the block button on certain social media. There is someone who has caused a lot of grief amongst members of an organisation I am involved in. While I am luckily not tied into their disagreement the sheer brass-neck of the person had annoyed me. I can't help it. This whole sense of injustice, over people standing up and taking ownership of their actions, whether they be dick actions or not, drives me to distraction.
I was once again in danger of blundering in, of having everyone side with this person against the bad person picking on her. And she is the type to greatly enjoy that, indeed it is part of this whole grief manifesto she has going.
Block, block, blockity, block.
And now she is no more!
I can merrily go about my business without that thorn digging in every time I see another "look at me, I'm this organisations best thing ever" post.
Yippee!
I need to do this more often. I get bogged down with people like that. Now technology has offered me a way out, probably could have done with finding it out earlier but never mind. I'm there and no doubt come tomorrow there will be another thousand things I could also do that I will find out about...someday...

This Is The Sucky Thing About T'internet
Many moons ago (in real terms about 10/11 years) I came up with what I thought was a witty take on an internet nickname. It incorporated both my nationality in the form of ripping off and changing the name of a famous film that had come out a few years earlier. I had made a joke at the time that if the protagonist had been female they could have called the film this.
No, I'm not saying it out loud because if anyone does read this and then Google it - well I don't want to involve myself in an online spat...look let me explain further.
So I signed up for Twitter several years ago (2009) and did nothing with it but I had used this nickname and not the moniker I had adopted in the intervening years. TwoIfBySea; taken from my time living north of Boston and the fact that I now had twins. Quite clever I thought in a smug yet woolly brained way (like I said, I'd had twins, recently, well you try and think straight!)
You may, or probably may not, have noticed the change in my Twitter name recently.
Turns out someone else thought of this witty take too and they look much more professional and polished that scruffy old me. I feel strangely and ridiculously sad that I have to kind of give up on the old nickname, the new "old nickname" person doesn't look the type to take kindly to who used it first.
Ach there is more to life to worry about but it does feel sucky.
And yes, today, 1212121212121212 ya ya.

Enough Already With The Technology!
For this past year access to the internet in the Two If By Sea household has been, at best, fleeting. The 30 Day movies thing has taken around four months to complete due to the dongle sucking up any and all download in a greedy, money-hungry manner.
So now I have to wait...again...to see what is causing the issue.
You know, I don't live in a big, posh fancy house but there are plenty of people in this old town who do and I would have thought that all those lovely, lush customers would hold some sway in getting the exchange updated and the internet brought up to - oh at least 2007 standards.
Here I am, one week left of my thirties, *not* looking forward to the forties *at all* and I'd be as well returning to the typewriter and sending messages by carrier pigeon.
Since we moved we've had communication problems initially caused by the previous owner being a bit of a mare (thanks for telling us that the woman living next to us is an absolute nut - could really make it all legal but haven't the energy.) The internet has never worked correctly and to be honest the person who did the wiring in the house was obviously a DIYer with absolutely no talent. No kidding if I see one more half-hearted attempt at doing anything I'll scream - i.e. not one skirting board is finished properly, the workmanship is shoddy to say the least. It does feel like I bought a big old lemon but now we're stuck with it for the moment and as many people are being made homeless for a while I am thankful for that.
Wish I was the optimistic, naive, altruistic kiddo I used to be before a rotten marriage and life wore me down to this grumpy version! She's still there somewhere, perhaps life will begin again at 40? See, a little glimmer...
I can't check the following video properly without spending more than I'd wish to on access (times being hard in the old bank balance as always.)
Day 26 - Movie you're most embarrassed to say you like
Well now, I have a front like Blackpool after parenting for nearly 10 years now. You try and keep your dignified air when your child is going for the brat of the month award in the supermarket (no, they don't grow out of it.)
As has been seen by the previous entries I love a whole mix of movies from the frothy to the deeply moving. This movie I'd say I'm embarrassed to admitting to watching as most of it is utter, unbelievable cack.
There are stories within though that are truly heart-rending. These stories do not involve Hugh Grant or Keira Knightley.
Watch this film and see Emma Thomson wrench the heart of any woman watching as she realises the gorgeous present her husband has bought was not intended for her. Grimace at the loneliness of Laura Linney as she struggles to have a life beyond her family commitments.
The other stories range from "meh" (Colin Firth) to "oh for crap sake!" (Hugh). I could really have done with concentrating on Emma and Laura's character stories and the rest...
If embarrassment is fast forwarding through most of a film then I give you...Love Actually....

T'internet
Okay, so this is the problem and for once I am finding it hard to come up with a solution.
Here I am at the library, where I usually do my studying. I don't usually go on the computers but since I have been cut off at home I have no choice.
Did you not pay your bill silly girl? I hear you ask. Well, actually I did but you see as the account is in buggerlug's name the internet provider will not discuss it with me. Not at all.
Whereas I never had much issue with getting everything else changed over, phone, utilities etc. This is where I have come a cropper good an' proper one too! (Sorry was watching Lark Rise to Candleford last night, heavy influence on tired brain.)
The internet provider, name and shame - TISCALI. Apparently as He is on the account, He has to phone, cancel the account and then I have to wait (and this is the biscuit right here) 45 days until I can get online. As they have left a marker on my account I don't seem to have an option but while I try and think what to do next I have to catch up on all the things I do online here, at the library.
This is the sound of my head hitting against a brick wall.
